Client Introduction
The Bedfordshire Downs Syndrome Support Group is affiliated to the Downs Syndrome Association and was formed in October 2000 by a group of parents in the local area with young children who have Downs Syndrome.
The group exists to provide support, information and advice. At present the large majority of our members have children but welcome membership from every age group.
Project Overview
Having been in existence since October 2000, Bedfordshire Downs Syndrome Support Group decided that they wanted to expand their existence and support as well as leaping into the 21st century. They brought with them an already established corporate identity, consisting of a logo and the blue and green colours (Hex Values; Blue - #002887, Green - #005E23); this had already been used to create printed literature to help promotion.
The main objectives were as follows:
- Keep the existing branding and identity
Create a website around the already established corporate branding (logo and colours). - Website that would appeal to all users
Creating a happy and exciting but clean website, that presented the group and showed exactly what the Bedfordshire Downs Syndrome Support Group offered. - Dynamism and Interest
Create a header that offered subtle movement and would clearly indicate that the user was viewing a different page/section each time they visited a different page/section. - Downloadable registration form
Offer the option to download the registration form from any page. - Independent contact forms
Integrate contact forms that work independently from Outlook or Outlook Express. - Flexible, Expandable navigation
Navigation had to be flexible and expandable to cope with the addition of new sections and pages. - Text accessibility functionality
Text accessibility functionality to cater for the partially sighted. - Integration of discussed elements
Integrate the various factors and discussed elements into the design such as the charity number, downloadable registration form etc.
The Bedfordshire Downs Syndrome Support Group were more than delighted with the outcome of the website and a maintenance agreement for continual updating of the website is currently being discussed and should be finalised shortly.
What the client said
"The creation and set up of our website appeared
to be extremely daunting. However, Amasci proved this was not
the case. They listened to our initial ideas and very quickly produced
the basis of the current website. The whole set up ran smoothly
and generally as soon as we had emailed any changes or requested
further developments, these were actioned. We are very proud of
the website and feel that although it is professional it is not
daunting and is still very family orientated. In fact, if anything,
the website is 100% better than we initially envisaged it to be."

"Amasci guided us through every step
of the development of our website. They explained aspects we were
unsure of and used their vast experience to suggest ideas to us.
We are so impressed with the final site and thank Amasci not only
for their hard work but also for their patience in working with
those of us who have no experience in the world of websites"

"The group had wanted a web site for
a long time but we have struggled to get anything up and running
but working alongside Amasci, we now have our web site but also,
we feel it looks professional and puts across all the information
that we feel people are interested in."
