Client Introduction
Plowman Craven are one of the largest and fastest growing measurement companies in Europe. Established over 40 years ago they offer a vast range of measurement, surveying and geomatic services.
Amasci Creative Limited have a fantastic working relationship with Plowman Craven and have undertaken many projects with PCA. This relationship extends across many different bespoke projects that have been developed specifically for Plowman Craven over the past few years.
Project Overview
Plowman Craven attend and host several events throughout the year including the huge event of MIPIM (The world's property market) hosted in Cannes. This sparked the need to setup and create an online events portal that would allow users to be invited to various events and then allow them to login to their own secure user area and accept invitations and confirm event attendances.
The events portal had to be dynamic and accompany for a host of different events and database structures. The portal would hook into various databases and allow Plowman Craven to upload and update their online databases on a regular basis. This uploaded data would then be checked against the current online and updated as necessary. Plowman Craven also have the ability to add new events as and when the need to.
An extremely tight deadline to get this project complete in advance of MIPIM 2007 was the main hurdle that we had to overcome; we still managed to deliver on time and above expectation.
The Portal is a dynamic interface that reflects and updates based on what is setup via the online control panel. Amasci Multimedia put a control panel and full events portal system together that offers Plowman Craven the ability to add, edit, disable and remove events as and when they choose. The backend control panel offers a simple user interface that allows for anyone at Plowman Craven to be able to use the system without any prior knowledge or training.
Plowman Craven also have the facility to search through their user database online and sort through various methods including the ability to view users in various events and the ability to export this information in a CSV (excel) format. To keep their user base up to date with the latest information and event details they have the option to email through the online control panel and can choose from a range of options and be able to send emails to target audiences through various filtration processes or to everyone in a specific database.
The front end of the website was designed around the new branding and Plowman Craven website. It had to be easy to use and most of all appealing from the first page. Most pages are restricted to user access which can be achieved through completion of the registration form.
The creation of the Plowman Craven Events Portal is achieved using 100% W3C valid HTML and CSS and is a complete table less design (website shell) with only a few tables used through some of the form capturing content. This makes the website much more accessible for search engines and spiders and will offer a much improved ranking through the internet, search engines especially Google. The website also meets the Double A Standards of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. This makes the website accessible for the blind, users with screen readers, non compliant browsers and other media viewing the website such as mobile phones and PDAs - click here for more information.
