Client Introduction

Tuscany Bike Tours offers one day bike tours just south of Florence in the heart of the Chianti wine region. The tour takes you on a breathtaking cycle through the hills of Chianti passing vineyards, villas and olive groves. Taking in the sights, smells and sounds before sitting down to a full lunch at a quaint family owned restaurant which nestles amongst the Florentine hills.

Project Overview

Tuscany Bike Tours spoke to Amasci after seeing our own website and instantly fell in love with our designs, style and ability to present a professional, appealing website whilst maintaining a friendly and joyful feeling. There were several functions that Tuscany Bike Tours wanted to integrate into their new website. These features included the printer friendly pages, ability to send pages to friends and other users amongst their existing content and future expansion of language variants.

The project resolved around taking the existing website content and reworking this into a brand new design whilst keeping certain existing features and functionlities. The website also had to be migrated over to be hosted with ourselves and all this had to be coordinated during the launch of the new website. The new and existing features that had to be implemented where as follows:

Email a Friend and Printer Friendly Page Facilities

Two new features that where created and implemented on the new Tuscany Bike Tours website were the email page to a friend and printer friendly page facilities.

The email a friend facility allows a user to send a link to a specific page/article on the website. This helps generate traffic and gives users an easy quick method to inform other cycling enthusiasts of the Plowman Craven Evans Racing Team website.

The facility works via an icon at the top of the page content, that once clicked brings up a simple form allowing the user to input their name and email address and their friends name and email address and any message they wish to include. This then sends an email to the user and the friend with a link to the website page and the details as entered by the user.

The printer friendly page facility again works from an icon at the top of the page content and this strips out the unimportant elements to the site content such as the header bar and header graphics and provides a page that prints correctly formatted on a single sheet of A4.

XML Driven Flash Photo Gallery

An existing feature that was created for the old website, allowing Tuscany Bike Tours to upload and create their own photo galleries. This feature was a vital feature that had to be integrated into the new website. Although it was created by a previous agency we managed to manipulate the scripts and code to implement into the new design and function exactly as before.

Google Maps and Tripadvisor Testimonials

Some javascripts and code that had been developed and implemented on the existing site to display a Google Map applet and testimonials that previous tour customers had written on the Tripadvisors website. Both these features where required to be carried through into the new website. Again we manipulated the code and scripts to achieve this.

Tuscany Bike Tours also run a sister tour. The www.chianti-winetours.com website is also proposed to be developed by Amasci. This website will continue in the new design, style and branding and will again incorporate existing features and new ones.

What the client said

"Amasci multi media solutions is exactly what it says. This company is a highly professional outfit. These guys think outside the box and are really forward thinking in their approach to design. Their work is clean, precise, to the point and extremely user friendly. Exactly what we were looking for when deciding to have our websites redesigned.

"We'll be back for more, without a doubt (Grazie mille) Thanks a million. " Tuscany Bike Tours logo
