Client Introduction
Plowman Craven & Associates Limited are one of the largest and fastest growing measurement companies in Europe. Established over 40 years ago they offer a vast range of measurement, surveying and geomatic services.
Amasci Creative Limited have a fantastic working relationship with Plowman Craven and have undertaken many projects with PCA. This relationship extends across many different bespoke projects that have been developed specifically for Plowman Craven over the past few years.
Some of these projects include:
The Main Plowman Craven Website (version 1 old)
www.plowmancraven.co.uk
Created in August 2005 as a brand new presentation and marketing tool for PCA to convey the wide range of services Plowman Craven offer. The website was created with future expansion in mind. This website replaced their existing ‘outdated’ website which had previously been developed by another agency.
Plowman Craven came to Amasci with this project as a starting point, and our relation grew from there. Initially Plowman Craven wanted us to develop a fresh approach to the internet that showed just how large and capable Plowman Craven are in the Measurement industry, as their previous website had not managed to fulfil this. This website has been upgraded and redesign by Amasci in a January 2007 see below for full details.
The 3D Department of Plowman Craven Website
www.pca3d.co.uk
After wowing Plowman Craven with the success of the initial project, it was not longer before they returned to Amasci Multimedia with more proposals for additional websites and developments.
The 3D website was created specifically for the 3D department of Plowman Craven; the brief was to create a site that highlighted and showcased their exceptional 3D scanning and modelling abilities, whilst appealing to the TV, Film and other media markets.
Feedback/Questionnaire Website
www.howdidwemeasureup.com
After undertaking a project for a client, Plowman Craven used to send out a paper questionnaire to help them improve their services. This was time consuming, expensive and often unsuccessful. It was again Amasci Creative Limited who Plowman Craven came to for a solution to upgrading and improving their methods. We have created an online database questionnaire solution that allows Plowman Craven to add a new project into the online system, and once the project has been completed an email is sent to client asking them to visit www.howdidwemeasureup.com and login using their user details. Once logged in they can complete a simple short questionnaire and this information is then stored in the database and emailed to several members of staff including the client.
The online database can be searched and ordered and also offers an export facility for Plowman Craven to easily access all their online data, which offers additional marketing potential.
Email Footers
After subtle upgrades to their existing branding, Plowman Craven required a fresh email footer that was flexible and functioned with a range of different email clients (including text based clients). Amasci provided a range of varied designs and from this developed the final version of the email footer, which was developed for everyone in the organisation to use.
Main Plowman Craven Website Redesign
Project Overview
After the initial success of the main Plowman Craven website and subsequent projects, Plowman Craven required a fresh approach to 2007. Having made subtle changes to their existing branding in the later stages of 2006 (mainly font changes and a cleaner presentation) it was a requirement to get this implemented into the website.
After meeting to discuss further requirements and potential developments it was established that the structure and content of the website would remain exactly the same. This was due to the success of the existing website and was recommended by Amasci that the structure should remain for an accessibility and continuity point of view for their existing user base.
However, there where some advanced developments that would be implemented either at the initial stage of the redesign or in the near future. These additions included:
- Search Facility
A Search Facility that would scout the website for keywords and phrases as entered by users to help them in their quest to find what they required. - Multiple Language Variations
Multiple Language Variations including German, Turkish and Chinese. These would all have to be accessed from each site separately, with the ability to add more language variations. - Future Expansion of website
New Sections and Pages will be added to the site so the navigation had to be flexible and cater for this expansion.
The website was designed around the new branding and utilises the white space and is a much cleaner presentation as incorporated by the Plowman Craven branding.
The recreation of the Plowman Craven website was achieved using 100% W3C valid HTML and CSS and is a complete table less design (website shell) with only a few tables used through some of the content. This makes the website much more accessible for search engines and spiders and will offer a much improved ranking through the internet, search engines especially Google. The website also meets the Double A Standards of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. This makes the website accessible for the blind, users with screen readers, non compliant browsers and other media viewing the website such as mobile phones and PDAs - click here for more information.
