Client Introduction
Plowman Craven are one of the largest and fastest growing measurement companies in Europe. Established over 40 years ago they offer a vast range of measurement, surveying and geomatic services.
Amasci Creative Limited have a fantastic working relationship with Plowman Craven and have undertaken many projects with PCA. This relationship extends across many different bespoke projects that have been developed specifically for Plowman Craven over the past few years.
Project Overview
The online Self Assessment System we created for Plowman Craven allows their staff members to login and submit assessments based on their projects and work they undertake within the company. The system is used as part of the ISO standards procedure to help Plowman Craven work more closely with their staff and gain an opportunity to provide staff with feedback based on their assessments. It also is a vital tool when staff performance reviews are carried out.
The system is complex in that it had to be relationship linked as well as being categorised into the different teams within the Plowman Craven company and then each user would have a different line manager. A line manager would be able to see all his appraisers and their submissions. Each team would have a Business Unit Manager who would be able to see everyone within his team and then there could be Team Managers who could also see everyone in that team except other Team Managers and the Business Unit Manager. These relationships where drawn up and these can be controlled through the backend control panel (super admin control panel pictured left).
Each of the Plowman Craven staff members where invited to the system (which is accessible through their intranet) with their individual email address and generic password. Once they logged in for the first time they were immediately prompted to set their own password for future logins.
The system offers help and support as well as a downloads section for the Plowman Craven users. Each individual can review their submissions for the past 12 months - these are broken down and separated into months as they where submitted. If a user is a line manager, team manager or business unit manager then they have access to a separate area where can they can view each of the staff members they are responsible for as well as being able to review in a similar fashion each users self assessment submissions.
Users have access to update their details and change their passwords at anytime. The system also has a forgotten password retrieval built in that will email the user their password if requested.
The super admin panel allows the administrator to add, delete or edit any of the members on the system. They also have access to add more teams, change line managers, team managers and business unit managers. The backend control panel features a search and display preferences for the looking through all the system users.
As part of the backup and archiving of the self assessments, Plowman Craven wanted some form of monthly downloadable reports that would contain all the submissions on the system. We setup a functionality in the super admin panel that allows the administrator to login and download a report for each team for each month. These are kept on the system for 12 months. The administrator is also sent an email reminder at the start of each month telling them to login and download the reports.
The website was designed around the other Plowman Craven websites in keeping with their branding.
The creation of the Plowman Craven Events Portal is achieved using 100% W3C valid HTML and CSS and is a complete table less design (website shell) with only a few tables used through some of the form capturing content.
