Dialling Locally Set to Change

Ofcom have announced that from 1st October 2014 callers in Milton Keynes will need to dial the whole phone number (i.e. including the area code) when making calls locally from a landline.

Shortage of numbers

Ofcom state that the change is necessary in order to prevent shortages of new phone numbers, as using the current method means new local numbers cannot begin with a ‘zero’ or a ‘one’.

No price change

Ofcom have confirmed this will not affect the price of calls and anyone who dials without the required area code after the change will hear a recorded message asking them to include it.

01908

So remember from October next year when dialling locally you will need to include the 01908 part of the phone number as well. We will send a further reminder closer to the time.
