The Project Brief
We built the previous Boxx website back in 2010 and it stood the test of time well. However, the website and branding/imagery was in need of a revamp.
The requirements for the new website were;
- Replace the old branding and imagery that was used throughout the site, with something new, unique and current.
- Make the website fully responsive, so it would work optimised across multiple devices, bringing it up to date in terms of best practices and technologies.
- Undertake a full content review and ensure all new services, content and marketing was considered. This included creating new sections and splitting some content into separate elements.
- Provide a quick, clean and reliable customer focussed experience. One that would also enable the sales team to quickly retrieve information and direct customers to find the information they needed in a clear and smooth manner.
Initially we carried out a full content review and established which content would need to be updated or revamped and what sections would need to be rearranged or developed from scratch. This gave us an initial website structure and we proceeded to discuss initial ideas around the design.
We then involved some of the sales team to discuss what specific requirements they had whilst dealing with customers, and where the current website was lacking, together with any improvements we could make or additional ideas they had. From this we established some additional areas we needed to explore, including the idea of the ‘large print’ sections.
We moved into the design and ideas phase whilst consulting with the client to try and establish the branding and imagery - as this would form a significant canvas for the overall look and feel of the website. From the discussions, the theme of ‘highstreet, people and business’ was established. We worked with some stock imagery initially, before drawing in local professional photographer Matt Parry, who created some stunning imagery to work with. It was our job to then connect the images to specific content and sections, as well as theming some of the copy to suit.
A copy writer was also used to strengthen the brand and marketing throughout the website.
We built some aspects of the website (blog and customer stories) on a content management system, thus allowing Boxx to easily add new stories and articles on a regular basis. Boxx wanted Amasci to manage the rest of the site with an ongoing website retainer.
